My story

An Intern from Harvard College

I began working for Weiss Asset Management in the spring of my sophomore year of College, and stayed on with the firm that summer. I was enjoying my experience so much that I continued working there part-time throughout my junior year. At Weiss, I had the opportunity to work with every person in the firm and learn about what everyone did. It was fantastic. Everyone in the firm is tremendously intelligent and knowledgeable, as well as helpful and friendly. It’s amazing how much I learned simply from interacting with everyone.

I also had the amazing opportunity of working on a given project from start to finish. The level of responsibility and the kind of interactions I had with the professionals is not something interns experience at most firms. But at Weiss, this is the norm rather than the exception. I really felt like I was part of the team and I knew I was making real contributions. This connection to the firm made me look forward to going to work every day.

Every firm says it’s meritocratic, but Weiss truly is. Interns are constantly encouraged to share their ideas and questions with everyone from the traders to the president of the company. Although this might be daunting for an intern at another firm, Weiss has fostered and maintained a fantastic company culture, which is further bolstered by company trips to events like Blue Man Group, laser tag, even gone race car driving.

Weiss is a tremendously intellectual, innovative, and fun company — absolutely the best intern experience I could have hoped for.
